The Redmond High baseball team routed Eastlake, 10-1, in a makeup game Saturday night at Hartman Park to keep its 4A Kingco Crest Division title hopes alive.

The Mustangs improved to 11-4 in league play and currently sit one game behind Issaquah (12-3). The Mustangs will play the Eagles, at Issaquah, tomorrow afternoon at 3:45 for the division title. If Redmond wins, it will win the tiebreak by virtue of having the better head-to-head record against the Eagles, and take the No. 1 seed heading into next week’s Kingco playoffs.

Redmond struck for five runs in the second inning against Eastlake and then four more in the fifth and banged out 10 hits in total for the game.

Redmond starter Ryan Beliel had an effective outing, allowing just one run on six hits in five innings while striking out two.

Offensively, the junior tandem of Michael Conforto (1-for-3, triple) and Dylan Davis (2-for-3) each had three RBIs on the night, while Patrick McGrath hit a double that drove in two more.

REDMOND FASTPITCH FALLS TO RED-HOT VIKINGS

The red-hot Inglemoor High fastpitch team won its ninth game in a row Friday afternoon, beating Redmond, 3-1, in a 4A Kingco contest.

Playing in a steady rain, Inglemoor plated their first run, unearned, on a balk by Redmond starter Emily Graves, and added two more as the Mustangs’ offense was unable to get anything going against Viking starter Rosie Matsumoto.

Matsumoto scattered seven hits, for her ninth win of the season.

Graves had a quality start, pitching a complete game and allowing three runs on five hits while walking just two batters.

For the Vikings, Kaylee Hardin paced the offense with three hits and Jenna Rutherford went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Redmond third baseman Jenny Eisenmann hit a home run to straightaway center field — her first of the season — for the Mustangs’ only run.

With the loss, Redmond dropped into fourth place in the Crest Division, but remain only two games back of Eastlake with five conference games left to play, including at Skyline tonight at 4 p.m.

MUSTANG SOCCER SHUTS OUT INGLEMOOR

The struggling Redmond boys’ soccer team got a couple of big goals and a tremendous defensive performance in a 2-0 shutout win over Inglemoor on Friday night at home.

Senior co-captain Bryan Williams and junior Shawn Cooley, both midfielders, were involved in both goals as Cooley found Williams at the 25-minute mark to open up the scoring, and 25 minutes into the second half, in the 65th minute, Cooley scored off a feed from Williams.

Mauricio Romano and Tyler Albin combined for the shutout.

With the win, Redmond improved to 3-6-1 in league play and 3-8-1 overall while Inglemoor dropped to 2-6-2 and 2-7-4.
