Redmond High junior Sean Kato qualified for his third straight state golf tournament after winning the 3A SeaKing district title on Tuesday at Riverbend Golf Course in Kent.

Kato, who also won the 4A district crown last season, battled Roosevelt’s Gabe Spach in a five-hole sudden-death playoff to notch the victory. He scored a four-under 68 after the first 18 holes.

Redmond, which also won the team title, will send Kato, Michael Cummings (72) and Connor Golembeski (73) to state in the spring.

The Mustangs’ Ryan Ho (83) missed the state cut by two strokes.
