Redmond rolls past Bothell, 9-5, in softball action

Redmond’s Jennifer Cummings and Kiki Milloy banged three hits apiece in the Mustangs’ 9-5 nonleague softball victory over Bothell on April 9.

Redmond remained undefeated with a 9-0 overall record; the Mustangs are 7-0 in 3A KingCo action.

Bothell led 4-3 after three innings and Redmond tallied four runs in the fourth and two in the fifth.

Cummings had four RBIs, including a double; Milloy had a double, triple and an RBI; and Mara Kipnis had one hit and two RBIs.

BASEBALL

Undefeated Mercer Island dropped Redmond, 9-4, in a 3A KingCo baseball contest on April 9.

Redmond led 4-2 after scoring four runs in its turn at bat in the top of the fourth inning. MI answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth and regained the lead for good with five runs in the fifth.

For Redmond, Yui Suzuki had two hits, Connor Barison had a three-run double, Will Helland had an RBI hit and Darek Khabani doubled.

MI is 6-0 in league and 12-0 overall, and Redmond is 2-3 in league.
