Redmond swimmers shine at 3A state championships

Redmond freshman Aidan Blackmon splashed into his first 3A state swim and dive championships with a pair of top-10 individual finishes on Feb. 17 at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.

He took fourth in the 100-yard butterfly in 52.28 seconds and 10th in the 50-yard freestyle in 21.91 seconds.

Redmond’s Peter Fitch took eighth in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:00.05.

Both Blackmon and Fitch were part of the 400-yard freestyle relay, which placed 12th in 3:19.36 and also consisted of Ian Huang and Thane Suen. The 200-yard freestyle relay — consisting of Blackmon, Huang, Suen and Jason Fu — took 13th in 1:31.60.
