Redmond varsity boys take 2nd, girls take 3rd at league cross-country championships

Redmond High's boys and girls varsity cross-country teams took second and third, respectively, at Thursday's 3A KingCo championships at Lake Sammamish State Park in Issaquah.

Redmond High’s boys and girls varsity cross-country teams took second and third, respectively, at Thursday’s 3A KingCo championships at Lake Sammamish State Park in Issaquah.

Individually for Redmond, George Cretu took fifth (16:35.33) and Kyle Nickum took sixth (16:36.55) for the boys, and Sierra Baker took 11th (19:55.13) and Claire Engler took 12th (20:02.91) for the girls.

Redmond’s boys and girls junior varsity squads both placed first at the event.

For the boys, Brian Granillo was first (17:35.58) and Owen Leslie was second (17:35.68). On the girls’ side, Redmond’s runners placed first through eighth, led by top Mustang Caitlyn Axe (20:41.39).

Next up is the SeaKing District 2 meet this Thursday at Lower Woodland in Seattle.
