ELECTION 2008
Nixon is the right choice
In 2003, there was a very bad bill in our state’s legislature, SSB 5787.
It significantly diminished environmental protections for major construction projects, including levels of pollutants permissible in fill being used in wetlands (in this case, wetlands that directly drained into Puget Sound).
The bill was pushed in large part by the Port of Seattle, but had far-reaching ramifications beyond Seatac Airport.
As a member of the legislature, Toby Nixon showed considerable courage, going against the Democratic majority and also most members of the Republican Party. Major environmental groups were also opposed to the bill.
Toby is to be commended for his courage, and for looking out for the environment.
I hope voters will consider his principled stand when voting in the upcoming election.
