Doreen Blanding, a Redmond mom of six who was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, is running in the Nike Women’s full marathon in San Francisco on Sunday, Oct. 17, to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She has prepared for the event through the online Team in Training program set up by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

In the middle of radiation therapy, Blanding signed up for a half-marathon in Vancouver, B.C. Thirteen days before that event, she had surgery and her first session of chemotherapy, yet still ran and crossed the finish line.

In addition to fighting cancer, Blanding coaches soccer, homeschools her children and runs a home-based business with proceeds going to cancer research.
