State Rep. Roger Goodman, a Democrat who represents the 45th District, is the first candidate to file with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) to challenge Republican U.S. Rep. Dave Reichert for his congressional seat.
Just two months after winning his legislative seat for the third time in the 45th District, which includes Redmond, Goodman will run for the 8th Congressional District in 2012, according to an FEC filing.
Reichert, who beat former Micrsoft executive Suzan DelBene in November, is currently serving his fourth term. He has not announced yet if he will run again for the congressional seat in 2012.
Goodman has launched a Web site already that announces his intent to run for the 8th District, which includes Redmond, a small portion of south Kirkland, and other Eastside areas such as Bellevue, Sammamish, Mercer Island and Issaquah. For more information, visit www.rogergoodmanforcongress.com.
