Kindergartners at Albert Einstein Elementary School loaded hundreds of canned foods into the back of a car Thursday morning that will be delivered to Hopelink in Redmond.

The four kindergarten classes at Einstein collected more than 400 canned foods as part of a two-week canned food drive challenge among the classes to collect 100 items by the 100th day of school (Feb. 11).

“They were so excited,” said Laura Russell, the girls’ teachers. “They’re just such good kids.”

There are about 80 kindergartners at Einstein and Russell said Hopelink serves some of their families as well as others in the school, which made the drive even more important.
