City of Redmond planning commissioner Tom Flynn was the only new official to be sworn in at Tuesday’s ceremony at City Hall.
Mayor John Marchione, along with Council members Hank Margeson and David Carson were incumbents who were re-elected in November and sworn in on Tuesday inside the Council chambers.

Flynn defeated Microsoft accountant Joel Wright in November and will fill the empty seat left by Council President Richard Cole, who retired earlier this month after 24 years on the Council.
Marchione, Margeson and Flynn were sworn in by Northeast District Court Judge Michael Finkle and Carson was sworn in by King County Council member Kathy Lambert, who represents District 3, which includes Redmond.

The Council’s other re-elected incumbent, Hank Myers, will be sworn in by Judge Finkle on Dec. 27, according to City Clerk Michelle McGehee.
Council members will vote for the Council’s new president and vice president at the Jan. 3 meeting.
