Leisure Care community Fairwinds-Redmond to host speaker series beginning April 14

In conjunction with Humanities Washington and Rick Steves’ Europe Through the Backdoor, Leisure Care community Fairwinds-Redmond is hosting a lineup of speakers throughout 2012.
These one-hour presentations are open to the public and are free to attend and many presentations include a cocktail hour beforehand with complimentary wine and appetizers.
Upcoming presentations feature speakers who dive into topics of history, culture and travel — both near and far. Speakers include award-winning author, documentary producer and journalist Jack Hamann, award-winning author and radio producer Harriet Baskas and award-winning historian and Museum of History and Industry curator Dr. Lorraine McConaghy.
Each Saturday presentation will be at Fairwinds-Redmond, at 9988 Avondale Rd. N.E. in Redmond.

- May 19, 2 p.m. cocktail hour, 3 p.m. lecture – What Is That?: Unusual and Offbeat People, Places, Things and Events in Washington State with Harriet Baskas. For more information, visit http://tinyurl.com/czppns7.
- June 23, 2 p.m. cocktail hour, 3 p.m. lecture – Select Gardens of England and France with Ann Neel. Enjoy a pictorial garden visit from Monet’s Giverney to Cornwall’s Lost Gardens of Heligan to Southern England’s Stourhead.

- Sept. 15, time TBD – European Beer Tasting with Tim Nichols. Get a taste of Europe’s best brews while learning about the styles of each European country’s beer-producing regions, beer aficionado Nichols will also show how to go about getting brewery tours in Europe not generally open to the public.
