Mustang baseball team wins two more, stretches win streak to eight

Spring has sprung as so have the bats for the Redmond High School baseball team.

The Mustangs have won eight straight games after a pair of blowout Kingco 4A wins against Woodinville and Juanita over the weekend.

Redmond sophomore catcher Lucas Eliason drove in four runs and senior Patrick McGrath added two doubles as the Mustangs beat the Falcons, 10-3, at Woodinville last Friday.

Redmond starting pitcher Kirk Gysler allowed three runs in the first inning and then pitched three more shutout innings to earn the win.

The Mustangs followed up the Friday win with a 12-2 victory on Saturday against Juanita in six innings at Hartman Park.

Redmond senior Max Hicok had three hits in the win and Conner Bozman added a pair of doubles. In addition, sophomore Brandon Burditt hit his first home run of his Mustang career. On the mound, senior Alex Miller got the win, allowing two runs on three hits.

With the weekend wins, Redmond improved to 5-4 in the Kingco 4A Crest Division. After starting the season 0-7, Redmond now sports an 8-7 overall record.

During their eight-game winning streak, the Mustangs hit .327 and have outscored their opponents, 49-16. Redmond has hit five home runs during its win streak also.

The Mustangs take on Inglemoor, winners of seven straight, Tuesday night at Hartman Park. First pitch is at 6 p.m.
