On Tuesday, Emerald City Gymnastics in Redmond will present the American Heart Association (AHA) with a check for $5,000.

The team earned the donation as winners of the 2012 Charity Choice Invitational, a gymnastics meet that was held in Tacoma in February.

The team had raised an additional $5,465 for the AHA last year, bringing their total donations to $10,465.

“These kids are champions in every sense of the word,” said Rebecca Weaver, executive director for the AHA in Puget Sound. “We are so proud of their achievements in the past year and truly honored that Emerald City Gymnastics chose to support us and our mission to build healthier lives in our community. What they’ve accomplished is amazing.”

The check presentation on May 29 will take place at Emerald City Gymnastics, 17969 N.E. 65th St. in Redmond at 5:45 p.m.

Heart patient and volunteer Kami Sutton will accept the check on behalf of the AHA.
