Redmond takes second at district tournament | Girls Golf

Casie Helgeson led the way with a sixth-place finish as Redmond High took second place in the team standings at the 4A Girls’ District 2 Tournament on Tuesday at Willows Run Golf Course (Coyote Creek).

Helgeson, a junior, shot 83-80-163 over the two-day event and qualified for state. Mustang senior Allison Hunt, freshman Ally Collier and junior Caitey Minifie also finished in the top 13 to earn berths to state, which will take place May 21-22 at Club Green Meadows in Vancouver.

Redmond, which qualified the most 4A Kingco players to state, rallied from fourth after the first day to finish second with 55 points. Eastlake took first with 103 points.

“It was a young and inexperienced team that hit their peak at the right time,” said coach Jake Crowley, whose team took third with a 9-2 record in the Kingco regular season.
