In a rematch of last year’s state final game, Lake Sammamish defeated Bainbridge Island, 14-11, in the semifinals.
Lake Sammamish — which features Redmond players — will take on Lakeside in the final at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at Mercer Island High.
In the semis, Lake Sammamish jumped out to a 6-0 lead with goals coming from Claire Monsaas (Redmond), Sarah Wyrick (Lake Washington), Emily Sokol (Inglemoor), Anna Bernard (Redmond) and Alexandra Johnson (Woodinville). Bainbridge then exploded to cut the lead to 7-5 at halftime.
The second half had Bainbridge get within one, but Lake Sammamish matched goal for goal and then started to run the clock down with an efficient passing game and picked their chances to score and build the lead to the final whistle and the victory. The defense, led by goalie Miranda Taylor (Eastlake), had three saves in the second half to stave off Bainbridge’s aggressive attack.
Monsaas was named to the Snoqualamie All-Conference team.
