Tea Freedman-Susskind, 13, of Redmond won the King-Snohomish Regional Spelling Bee held at Seattle Town Hall on March 23. Her winning word was “acetylene.”

The bee included the top spellers from King and Snohomish county schools, grades 1-8 and age 14 and under.

Freedman-Susskind — a seventh-grader at Lakeside Middle School in Seattle — will travel to Washington, D.C. for Bee Week in May to compete in the 87th annual Scripps National Spelling Bee, which will take place May 28-29.
