VALA Eastside invites Redmond residents to the artists’ reception for Voices in the Corridor, a multimedia public art project created for the City of Redmond.
The project is produced by VALA and partially funded by the city’s Arts and Culture Commission, with the donation of space by Redmond Town Center.
“Voices in the Corridor is understanding what makes a place a ‘home’— personal histories and our own personal cultures,” said VALA Co-Founder and Executive Director Jessica Lambert. “These personal histories connect to make a whole community, which we are uncovering every day through our storytelling, poetry and art.”
Voices in the Corridor is directed by artists Jacqui Calladine and Lambert, who are creating artwork along with invited visual artists Anna Macrae and Flora Ramirez Bustamante with poetry written by Kelly Davio and Jeannine Hall Gailey.
The Voices in the Corridor artists’ reception will be from 5:30–7:30 p.m. on Sept. 12 at the VALA Art Center, 16409 N.E. 74th St. in Redmond Town Center. The event is free, but there is a suggested donation of $5.
There will be art, poetry and appetizers provided by Matt’s Rotisserie & Oyster Lounge, with wine provided by Portteus Winery.
Voices in the Corridor will be VALA Art Center’s main installation through Oct. 3.
