Francois and Dhingra to speak at upcoming NAMI Eastside event

Redmond Police Cmdr. Shari Francois and juris doctor (JD) Manka Dhingra, both currently serving on the board of directors at Redmond-based NAMI Eastside, will be presenting information on what can happen after the police are called.
They will discuss people’s different options such as Mental Health Court and the Diversion Center.
Francois is a commander with the Redmond Police Department and has been a law enforcement officer for 20 years in Washington. She is a trained Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) officer and has spearheaded the initiative to have all first responders trained in CIT, specifically for dealing with the mentally ill in Redmond. She holds a master’s degree in criminal justice from Columbia College.
Dhingra is a deputy prosecuting attorney, senior specialist with the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. She holds a JD from the University of Washington School of Law and a bachelor of arts degrees in history and political science from the University of California at Berkeley.
The event will be from 7-9 p.m. on Oct. 21 at EvergreenHealth Medical Center, Suite Tan 100, at 12303 N.E. 130th Lane in Kirkland. It is free and open to the public.
