Redmond Poultry Predictor run set for Nov. 16
Published 4:09 pm Friday, November 7, 2014
Runners can predict their finish times and win a turkey. Join the City of Redmond for its fourth annual Poultry Predictor Race on Nov. 16.
New in 2014, the race is now a 5K on a downtown Redmond course. The race is open to all levels of runners and you do not have to cross the finish line first to win. The five participants closest to their predicted finish time will receive a frozen turkey. There are no timing devices allowed on the course including mp3 players, iPod’s or GPS watches, and the only clock will be at the start/finish line. A professional timing company will chip time the event. Participants, limited to 100, can sign up to compete in the predictor division or choose to sign up for a regular 5K run/walk division.
The $35 pre-registration fee includes chip-timed race, long-sleeve technical fabric shirt, donation to Open Kitchen (www.openkitchenredmond.com) and finish-line festivities, including samples from Krave Jerky and KIND bar, drinks and chair massages courtesy of 1st Health Chiropractic. Race-day registration is $40 and shirts are not guaranteed.
The top five closest times in the predictor division will win turkeys. Courtesy of Super Jock ‘N Jill, the non-predictor division will award top male and female finishers in each age group. Additional turkeys and gift certificates from Shine Fitness will be raffled to all participants.
Pre-registration is available online at www.runsignup.com/poultrypredictor through Nov. 12.
The race starts and ends at the Signals Artwork near the parking lot at 7541 Leary Way N.E. The flat 5K course runs along the Central Connector, Bear Creek Trail and Sammamish River Trail. There are two water stops and police support at 170th Avenue Northeast on the course.
