Crisis Clinic was recently honored with the NAMI Citizen’s Award, which was presented at NAMI Eastside’s annual meeting, held at the Together Center in Redmond. NAMI Eastside’s mission is to improve the quality of life of all those affected by mental illness through advocacy, education and support.
NAMI Eastside’s Citizen’s Award is granted each year to an individual or organization that has exhibited, through an act of compassion or kindness, an awareness of the human aspect of mental illness. Crisis Clinic was chosen as the recipient of the award by the NAMI Eastside board of directors as recognition of their 50 years of service and their commitment to helping people living with mental illness and their families.
Crisis Clinic was nominated by Bellevue resident, Bipasha Mukherjee, a volunteer on Crisis Clinic’s 24-Hour Crisis Line for more than 17 years.
“Over the years, Crisis Clinic has been there 24 hours a day for anyone in emotional crisis seeking immediate support and referrals for longer term services,” explained Mukherjee. “Supporting clients with mental health challenges has been the central goal of this organization in all its services, be it directing someone to counseling or making referrals for housing, shelter or food.”
Crisis Clinic celebrated 50 years of service in 2014. Their telephone-based support services include the 24-Hour Crisis Line, WA Recovery Help Line, WA Warm Line, Teen Link, and King County 2-1-1. For more information about Crisis Clinic, visit: http://crisisclinic.org.
