Deadline extended: City seeking candidates to serve on the Business Fee and Tax Advisory Committee

The City of Redmond is seeking community members to serve on the newly formed Business Fee and Tax Advisory Committee (BFTAC). The BFTAC was formed to periodically offer advice to the Redmond City Council about business fees and taxes. The committee is made up of 11 members and will be representative of the city’s business clusters as defined in the city’s Economic Development Plan as well as residents, the education community, large business, small business, the freight industry, the development community and One Redmond.

The purpose of the committee is to provide a policy level perspective on business transportation tax expenditures and offer advice to the Redmond City Council on taxes and fees that affect businesses.

After confirmation by the City Council, each member will serve a term of four years. The committee will meet, at a minimum, once a year, but more likely two or three times a year depending upon matters to be discussed.

“It is important that city leadership gain multiple perspectives regarding fee and tax matters,” stated Mayor John Marchione, “this advisory committee is an important part of the City’s long-range sustainability strategy.”

The application deadline has been extended to April 27. An interview will be conducted in May with successful candidates confirmed by the City Council that same month.
