On Sept. 23, Tesla Stem High School in King County near Redmond welcomed author, inspirational speaker and “American Ninja Warrior” competitor Hoan Do to kick off their school year by speaking to each individual class.
For the freshman and sophomores classes, Do shared what it takes to become an outstanding student leader. For the junior class, he shared practical advice on how to turn one’s stress into success. And for the senior class, Do shared strategies that would help the soon to be graduates succeed in college and in life.
In each speech, Do used humor, metaphors and analogies to discuss abstract live lessons with the students.

One STEM student said, “I have heard two other motivational speakers at our school. I thought they were excellent but the thing that made (Do) different from them was that in addition to sharing a great message with funny stories, (he) actually had us apply the strategies (he was) sharing with us on how to lower our stress as we were together. This helped made our learning more active versus passive.”
