Redmond’s Michael Conforto is headed to another World Series.
As a youngster, he competed in the Little League World Series with his Redmond North team; as a college athlete, his Oregon State University squad made the College World Series; and on Wednesday night, the New York Mets rookie and his teammates punched their ticket to the Major League Baseball World Series.
According to a Cut4 story, Conforto can become the third person in baseball history to make an appearance in all three World Series.
On Wednesday, the Mets defeated the Chicago Cubs, 8-3, to sweep the National League Championship Series, and now they await the winner of the Kansas City Royals-Toronto Blue Jays American League Championship Series for their World Series opponent. The Royals lead the series, 3-2, and the teams will square off again Friday.
Conforto — who has one home run in the postseason — played in 56 games in the regular season and hit .270 with nine home runs, 14 doubles and 26 RBIs.
The World Series will start on Tuesday.
