Redmond celebrates Bike Bash

Community members gathered on May 17 for Redmond’s annual Bike Bash.

In its eighth year, Bike Bash celebrated bicyclists and bicycling.

Redmond resident Nicole Jackson said this is the fourth year she attended the event. She was ready to cycle through the trail with her 8-year-old daughter Clara and others.

“It’s a good scene, good music, and everybody is out and about,” Jackson said.

The bash included bike skills clinics presented by local bike shops with topics including basic bike maintenance, e-bike basics, how to fix a flat tire and more. The Redmond Police Department had bike helmets for sale and children rode their bikes at the Kid’s Bike Rodeo and Kids to Parks Day, at Downtown Park.

Youngsters Tanvika, 4 of Renton and Diya, 5 of Bellevue were seen cycling back from the rodeo and said they had “so much fun” riding their bikes around the kid-friendly “streets.”

Bike Bash is a collaboration between the city of Redmond’s Parks and Recreation department and Go Redmond.
