Every October, the Redmond Fire Department teams up with the National Fire Protection Association to promote a Fire Prevention Week campaign. The theme for the 2022 Fire Prevention Week is “Fire Won’t Wait, Plan Your Escape!” and will be held in person and virtually.

On October 15, Redmond Firefighters will host an open house at Redmond Fire Station 11, located at 8450 161st Avenue Northeast, where attendees can meet firefighters, tour the station and view live demos.

Fire Prevention Week is observed annually during the week of October 9 in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire, which killed over 250 people, left 100,000 people homeless, destroyed over 17,4000 structures, and burned over 2,000 acres of land on October 8, 1871.
