Bear Creek qualifies 14 athletes to state meet | Track and Field

The Bear Creek boys track and field team won the recent 2B Sea-King District championship, and the Grizzly girls track and field team finished fifth at districts and won the 2B Academic State championship. Overall, Bear Creek earned nine individual event championships and qualified 14 athletes for state in 13 events.

Only the top-two finishers at the district meet move on compete at the 2B Track and Field State Championship Meet on May 24-25 at Eastern Washington University in Cheney.

The state qualifiers are:

Boys

100 meters: Jesse Leuenberger, first, 11.63; senior Chris Finklelson, second, 11.97

200 meters: Leuenberger, first, 23.21

1,600 meters: Joey Hollis, first, 4:57.71

Pole vault: Stan Leszynski, first, 10-00; Sam Ethington, second, 9-06

Discus: Alex Davisson, first, 110-11
