Redmond native Maya Ganesan received a $5,000 scholarship from First Tech Credit Union.
Ganesan, who attends Stanford University, is one of 10 students to receive the scholarship from First Tech — a credit union serving the technology industry.
First Tech awarded five scholarships to students with a technology-focused major and five to students pursuing other areas of study. The winners were evaluated on their scholastic standing and their level of community involvement.
“We’re delighted to help support our members’ higher-education goals as they pursue their dreams,” said Greg Mitchell, First Tech president and CEO. “I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to our recipients and wish them well on this exciting next phase of their life.”
Throughout the past year, First Tech employees contributed more than 15,000 hours of community service and invested more than $480,000 in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education and literacy, including the scholarship program.
