Pacifica Christian High School (Newport Beach, Calif.) has hired The Bear Creek School’s Brandon Gonzalez as its athletic director and head coach for girls soccer starting this fall.

Gonzalez currently serves as Bear Creek’s associate athletic director and director of girls soccer. He oversees 37 athletic teams, and his girls soccer program appeared in three straight state finals from 2011-2013, winning back-to-back state championships in 2011 and 2012.

In his four years in charge of the Grizzlies’ girls soccer program, Gonzalez racked up a 56-15-5 record, two Sea-Tac 2B League titles and three 2B Bi-District titles. He was named 2012 and 2013 Sea-Tac 2B League Coach of the Year, as well as 2012 and 2013 Washington State Soccer Coaches Association Coach of the Year. In moving up to 1A last season, the Grizzlies notched a 13-3-2 record and an appearance in the Bi-District Tournament.

Gonzalez was born and raised in Southern California and attended Biola University on a soccer scholarship. At Biola, he received his bachelor of arts degree in sociology and a minor in Biblical and Theological Studies. He then attended graduate school at Concordia University where he received his master’s degree in coaching and athletic administration.

As a four-year collegiate soccer player, Gonzalez earned the MVP award twice and was named first-team all-conference in back-to-back seasons. In his professional career, Gonzalez played six seasons in the United Soccer League — five for the Southern California Seahorses and one for the North Sound Seawolves.
