Education Hill and Overlake hit with vehicle prowls over holiday weekend | Police blotter for May 23-27

The police blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical roundup of all calls to the Redmond Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Redmond Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Redmond, which gets more than 500 calls (emergency and non-emergency) per week.

Monday, May 27

Theft: Officers investigated a reported theft from the 15100 block of Northeast 24th Street in Overlake at 1:47 p.m.

Forgery: A resident in the 11800 block of 172nd Avenue Northeast on Education Hill contacted police at 10:57 a.m. to report an unknown suspect gained her credit card information and forged a check on the account.

Crying wolf: Redmond police received a report of violence at 2:09 a.m. from the 16600 block of Northeast 46th Street in Overlake, an address known for false reports of a similar nature. This report was also false.

Sunday, May 26

Shoplifting: A report was taken at 9:38 p.m. for theft of consumer goods in the 8800 block of 161st Avenue Northeast on Education Hill.

Grand theft auto: A vehicle was stolen at 5:08 p.m. from an apartment complex in the 4200 block of West Lake Sammamish Parkway in Overlake.

Shoplifting: Redmond police took a shoplifting report at 4:36 p.m. from a retail store in the 2200 block of 148th Avenue Northeast in Overlake. All leads are being investigated.

Vehicle prowls: Officers responded to three vehicle prowl reports from Overlake.

Saturday, May 25

Trespass: At 5:55 p.m., Redmond police responded to a subject trespassing at a grocery store in the 15800 block of Redmond Way downtown.

Shoplifting: Redmond police arrested a woman at 5:45 p.m. for theft of merchandise from a department store in the 2200 block of 148th Avenue Northeast in Overlake.

Vehicle prowls: Redmond police responded to 12 vehicle prowl reports throughout the day. Four came from Education Hill. Eight came from Overlake.

Friday, May 24

Shoplifting: Redmond police investigated the theft of liquor from a grocery store in the 17200 block of Redmond Way downtown at 9:52 p.m.

Reckless driving: A Sammamish-area man was arrested at 8:22 p.m. for reckless driving in the 18000 block of Redmond Way downtown after he was stopped for traveling more than 100 mph on his motorcycle.

Theft: At 6:23 p.m., Redmond police investigated the theft of a backpack left unattended at a park in the 10700 block of 160th Avenue Northeast on Education Hill. No suspect information is available at this time.

Agency assistance: At 1:30 a.m., Kirkland police requested assistance from Redmond police’s K-9 unit to track a theft suspect who fled from a business in the 12500 block of Northeast 85th Street. Vader tracked and located the suspect hiding in thick bushes. The suspect was arrested for multiple offenses.

Thursday, May 23

Agency assistance: Bellevue police’s Special Enforcement Team officers requested K-9 assistance at 8:51 p.m. with a narcotic sniff of a vehicle in the 1800 block of Minor Avenue for an ongoing investigation. Vader gave a positive alert to the suspect vehicle.

Fraud: Redmond police took a fraud report from the 8500 block of Avondale Road on Education Hill at 3:01 p.m.

Shoplifting: At 2:08 p.m., Redmond police took a shoplifting report from the 17600 block of Union Hill Road downtown. The suspect was caught on camera.

Vehicle prowl: Officers responded to a car prowl at 12:47 p.m. from the 9100 block of Willows Road in Grass Lawn where items were stolen.
