Led by senior Casie Helgeson and sophomore Ally Collier, Redmond High girls golf finished third in the 4A Kingco regular season with an 8-2 record.
Helgeson — a three-time state participant and two-time first-team all-Kingco selection — medaled in six of the 10 league matches this year with a personal best 1-over 37 at Bear Creek Country Club.
Another highlight this year for Helgeson was sharing medalist honors with Newport’s Division I recruit Maryanne Li in the Redmond/Newport match with scores of 39 at the Golf Club at Newcastle.
Collier medaled in two matches this year, including a 3-over 40 at the tough Inglewood Golf and Country Club. One of her highlights in the Inglemoor match was scoring an eagle, the first one in Redmond girls golf in 20 years. Last year’s state participant has relied on superior putting this year, according to coach Jake Crowley.
The Kingco and district rounds will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Snohomish Country Club. The team competing those days will be: Helgeson, Collier, seniors Melissa Marquez, Cristina Tobin and Caitey Minifie and freshmen Lauren Settle, Izzy Jenson and Rachel Johnson. Freshman Katie McCannon will be the alternate.
