Redmond artist’s work on display at Seattle’s Virginia Inn

Redmond artist Susan Melrath is currently showing her work at the Virginia Inn at 1937 1st Ave. in Seattle.

“In the Garden” is an exploration of nature that examines life, growth, the bounty of spring and the rhythm of seasons. Melrath uses large canvases to unearth color relationships and graceful organic shapes. Elaborate patterns, suggesting cellular forms, weave throughout the floral designs in her layered compositions.

Melrath’s inspiration comes partly from a painting application on her iPhone, called Brushes, which allows her to play quickly and freely with colors and layers. The paintings in the exhibition are the final expressions of this series of iPhone paintings. The artist has further integrated technology into her exhibit by posting a mobile tag (QR Code) with each painting to provide in-depth information about each piece. To download a QR Code Reader App, free from most vendors, visit http://qmc.tw/app.

“In the Garden” will be showing at the Virginia Inn through April 30. The exhibit is open Sunday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12 a.m. and Friday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m.For more information about Melrath, visit www.susanmelrath.com or www.susanmelrath.blogspot.com.
