Puget Sound Energy (PSE) workers shut off a ruptured gas line at about 2:22 p.m. on Monday at the corner of Northeast 116th Street and Red-Wood Road Northeast.
According to Redmond Fire Department’s Michael Hilley, they received three calls at about 12:43 p.m. from people smelling gas in the area. One fire engine, an aid truck and a battalion chief were on scene about two minutes later to check on the situation.
There were no injuries and no one was exposed to the gas, Hilley said. Both directions of Red-Wood Road were closed from Northeast 109th Street to Northeast 124th Street.
Hilley said they don’t know how the line was ruptured, but there was construction happening in the area. He noted that a 2-inch line feeds into a 6-inch line, and PSE most likely shut down the rupture on the 6-inch side.
PSE workers were on the scene quickly since they were working in the area.
Both directions of Redwood closed from NE 109th up to NE 124th St. Fire Dept on scene for possible natural gas line break.
