Fair murder retrial scheduled for Sept. 11

Emmanuel Fair’s murder retrial has been scheduled for Sept. 11 at the King County Courthouse in Seattle, according to the King County Prosecutor’s Office.

Following a hung jury in April, the state and defense counsel requested that the court find good cause to continue the trial date to Sept. 11. A trial status conference was held June 2 and that date was agreed upon.

A status conference is scheduled for 9 a.m. July 7 before Judge Mariane Spearman in E-863 of the courthouse.

Six years after charges were filed, Fair, now 33, went on trial on Feb. 14 at the courthouse for the murder of Arpana Jinaga at her Redmond apartment on Nov. 1, 2008.

Prosecutors are seeking a sentence of 45 years to life.

The Seattle Weekly ran a story on the case on Jan. 11.
