Volunteer at the Marymoor Park Concerts and catch a show for free
Published 10:30 am Tuesday, June 6, 2017
As part of its commitment to sustainability, King County Parks is once again promoting recycling and composting at Marymoor Park Concerts and is seeking volunteers to join the Marymoor Composting and Recycling Crew.
Marymoor Composting and Recycling Crew volunteers help educate concert-goers about sorting their compostable and recyclable materials. Volunteers who sign up for a shift at one or more concerts get free entry and parking to the shows at which they work.
Since 2007, King County Parks has been committed to making the concerts a carbon-neutral event. Due to the work of the composting and recycling volunteers, King County Parks has been able to keep out of the landfill more than half of the waste generated by concert series every year for the past decade.
Volunteers will staff bin stations and help concert-goers sort food scraps, biodegradable cups, and other items into the appropriate places. Volunteers must be 18 years or older and on-site training is provided. Shift times vary depending on show.
Service learning credit is available as well.
For more information and to sign up, visit the Marymoor Composting/Recycling Crew webpage. See the official summer concert lineup at marymoorconcerts.com.
