Vandals prey on church, break windows | Police Blotter for Sept. 13-18

Monday, Sept. 18

Theft: Redmond police took a theft report at 10:14 a.m. in the 13400 block of Northeast 70th Street. A woman reported a shopping bag filled with newly purchased clothes, makeup and jewelry was stolen from her driveway. According to the woman, she must have accidentally left the bag in her driveway while packing her vehicle for a trip and someone took it. No suspects have been identified.

Sunday, Sept. 17

Vandalism: Redmond police took a vandalism report at 9:38 a.m. in the 17300 block of Northeast 67th Court. Officers responded to reports of a vandalism at a local church. Upon investigation, Redmond police found four large, double-paned windows had been damaged by an unidentified, small projectile. No suspects have been identified and the damage estimate was unknown at the time of the report.

Saturday, Sept. 16

Theft: Redmond police took a report of a theft of a motor vehicle at 12:31 p.m. in the 14600 block of Northeast 81st Street. The victim stated that his 1992 Honda Accord had been stolen sometime during the night from his parking spot at his residence. Investigation is ongoing.

Friday, Sept. 15

Robbery: Redmond police took a robbery report at 3:34 p.m in the 8300 block of 164th Avenue Northeast. Officers responded to reports of an armed robbery at a local convenience store. The victim told police that he had gotten into the back seat of a friend’s car when the suspect also got in the car, pulled a gun, threatened the victim and stole cash and personal belongings from him. He was then driven around the corner and let out of the vehicle unharmed. The victim told officers that the suspect was known to him and did not want police to arrest the suspect, he just wanted his possessions back. After officers explained the criminal justice system does not work that way, the victim told police he would think about it. Officers provided the victim with their contact information and a case number in case he decides he wants further assistance.

Thursday, Sept. 14

Trespassing: Redmond police took a criminal-trespassing report at 2:16 p.m. in the 9900 block of Willows Road. Officers responded to a report of people illegally camping on private property. Upon arrival, officers located the camp but did not find the people who had been staying there. The maintenance keeper who reported the trespassers was instructed to alert police when he saw people return and police would respond.

Wednesday, Sept. 13

Fraud: Redmond police took a fraud report at 9:55 a.m. in the 12000 block of 157th Court Northeast. A woman reported she had been the victim of fraud after an unknown suspect had opened and used a credit card in her name without her permission. In addition to cancelling and reporting the fraudulent card, officers advised she report the occurrence to her financial institutions and IRS as a precaution.
