Sister-in-law purchases groceries without permission | Police Blotter for Oct. 24-30

Monday, Oct. 30

Theft: Redmond police took a report of a theft from a building at 1:54 p.m. in the 16200 block of Northeast 36th Way. A report was made for a stolen laptop taken from a building on the Microsoft campus. No suspects were identified at the time.

Sunday, Oct. 29

Bike theft: Redmond police took a bike-theft report at 10:09 a.m. in the 2700 block of 152nd Avenue Northeast. The victim told police her bike had been stolen sometime in the last week from the garage of her apartment building. It appeared the lock had been broken off the bike. Investigation is ongoing.

Saturday, Oct. 28

Drug offense: Redmond police took a drug-offense report at 10:31 p.m. in the 17200 block of Redmond Way. Police responded to a local grocery store to assist in removing a person who had locked herself in the public bathroom and refused to come out. Upon arrival, officers found the woman frantic and uncooperative and eventually trespassed her from the store. She was found to have numerous syringes on her person and had apparently hidden more paraphernalia in the toilet tank in the store’s restroom. The suspect was transported to a local treatment facility.

Friday, Oct. 27

Assault: Redmond police took an assault report at 4:33 p.m. in the 17100 block of Redmond Way. A man was arrested in the parking lot of a Redmond shopping center after getting into a physical altercation with another man. The incident began over a parking argument between the suspect and a woman where the suspect began yelling obscenities at her after she honked her horn at him. During the verbal tirade, the second man tried to come to the woman’s aid when the suspect hit the second man in the face. The victim returned a punch to the suspect’s face and a struggle ensued. The suspect indicated he had a firearm and was intending to use it, but no one involved in the incident nor any witnesses actually saw a weapon. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault and an outstanding warrant and booked into jail. No major injuries were sustained by any party.

Thursday, Oct. 26

Shoplifting: Redmond police took a shoplifting report at 7:21 p.m. in the 18000 block of Redmond Way. An employee at a local grocery store reported that an unknown male suspect shoplifted beer and candy, recorded the suspect as he was committing the crime, and announced he was going to put his shoplifting activity on YouTube. The suspect then walked out of the store making no attempt to pay for the items. Investigation is ongoing.

Oct. 25

Vandalism: Redmond police took a vandalism report at 9:39 a.m. in the 4600 block of 168th Court Northeast. Officers responded to a report of a community mailbox being broken into by an unknown suspect. Police contacted one of the homeowner association board members of the residence and directed him to reach out to police if any of the tenants determined they were a victim of mail theft.

Tuesday, Oct. 24

Conflict: Redmond police took a conflict report at 12:49 p.m. in the 9100 block of 168th Place Northeast. A woman called police after her sister-in-law reportedly used her EBT card to buy groceries without her permission. Investigation into the sisters-in-law relationship revealed many instances of conflict and harassment between the two. Police are investigating the matter further to determine what crimes have actually occurred.
