Redmond’s Karen and Ted Madison have been selected as recipients of the Stella Mae Carmichael award from Amara.
They adopted their two children through Amara, a local nonprofit, in the 1970s and continued to provide receiving, respite and temporary foster care for more than 70 children. The award honors foster and foster‐to‐adopt families who open their hearts and homes in exceptionally kind and selfless ways to our community’s children in foster care.
The award will be presented to the family at Amara’s annual luncheon From Hope to Home on March 3 at the Sheraton Seattle, by Adam Cornell, deputy prosecuting attorney of Snohomish County. Cornell is one of hundreds of children whom Carmichael cared for over her lifetime.
