Overlake golfers qualify for 1A state tournaments

Overlake's defending 1A state runner-up Rohit Sirosh finished second at Monday's bi-district tournament at Useless Bay Golf and Country Club with a 78 and qualified for state again. Fellow Overlake sophomore Nelson Ngouenet grabbed one of the final spots to state by shooting a 96.

Fellow Overlake sophomore Nelson Ngouenet grabbed one of the final spots to state by shooting a 96. Also from Overlake, senior Tucker Lutz and junior Mihir Velagapudi each scored 103 and missed the cut by five strokes.

Sirosh notched his second straight 1A Emerald City League boys golf title.

Overlake junior Lizzie Riffle qualified for her first state tournament by scoring 105 and grabbing the final berth to next week’s state tournament. Riffle advanced over an Annie Wright golfer by one stroke. Julia Lee shot 126 and did not advance.

Both state tournaments will be held May 27-28 at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.
