LWSD elementary students to showcase cooking talents at a Future Chefs competition

On Wednesday, fourth- and fifth-grade students from elementary students around Lake Washington School District (LWSD) will participate in Sodexo’s annual “Future Chefs” competition.

On Wednesday, fourth- and fifth-grade students from elementary students around Lake Washington School District (LWSD) will participate in Sodexo’s annual “Future Chefs” competition.

All students have submitted a healthy breakfast entrée recipe and been selected as finalists for this event. Judges will determine five winners in the following categories: health-conscious foods, judge’s choice, simple, kid-friendly preparation, best table demonstration and fun kid foods.

Each of the five winners will receive a new bicycle and helmet courtesy of Sodexo. All finalists will receive a chef hat, chef coat, framed certificate, medal and souvenir recipe book.

Twelve fourth and fifth grade students from the following elementary schools will participate in this event: Albert Einstein, Horace Mann, John Muir, Norman Rockwell and Benjamin Rush from Redmond; Benjamin Franklin, Robert Frost, Lakeview, Rose Hill and Mark Twain from Kirkland and Margaret Mead and Samantha Smith from Sammamish.

The competition will be from 2-6 p.m. at Rose Hill Middle School at 13505 N.E. 75th St.
