Congresswoman Suzan DelBene will be sitting down with local entrepreneurs and business owners tomorrow at Redmond’s Thinkspace to discuss the business climate for tech startups and ways federal policy can encourage job growth to ensure a vibrant, innovative startup community in the Pacific Northwest.

Meeting with about a dozen local startups, DelBene will hear ideas directly from entrepreneurs about how to help Washington state maintain an innovative, thriving startup community. They will discuss the need for increased investments in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education, comprehensive immigration reform, federal support for basic research, access to capital and issues related to patents and intellectual property. They will also propose reforms that will help the industry continue to expand and spark innovation that is critical to a 21st-century economy.

Part of a longer tour throughout the district, DelBene will be making a number of visits with local employers, research facilities and schools to focus on ways that encourage long-term economic growth and create jobs through innovation and technology.
