Driver discusses his experience with poverty, homelessness at Hopelink luncheon

Donald Driver, the Green Bay Packers all-time leading receiver, speaks at Redmond-based Hopelink’s 19th annual Reaching Out Benefit Luncheon today at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue. Driver, whose family dealt with poverty and homelessness when he was a youngster and teen, said he now appreciates every day and every moment and strives to be an exceptional person. Of Hopelink, a social services agency that helps homeless and low-income families, the former football player said: “Let’s have faith and follow Hopelink. As we say in football, ‘Ready, set, go.'” His Donald Driver Foundation donated $5,000 to Hopelink; the total amount raised has not yet been released.
