Tedeschi Trucks Band captivates Marymoor Park crowd | SLIDESHOW

Passionate slide guitar and sultry vocals filled Marymoor Park on July 17 with the Grammy Award-winning Tedeschi Trucks Band. Although Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks have proved themselves to be quite the pair musically, their bond goes beyond composing and performing music together. They are also husband and wife. Having just finished their European tour, AEG Live had the pleasure of welcoming them back to begin the U.S. leg of their tour.

The Tedeschi Trucks Band is comprised of 11 members, including a five-piece horn section and two drummers. The band is led by guitarist Trucks, former slide guitarist for the Allman Brothers Band. Vocals are by Tedeschi, which might remind some listeners of Bonnie Raitt with her slightly raspy but soulful voice. After a few songs into the set, you realize she has a style all her own that travels between delicate and brazen with a masterful touch.

The night began with a track off their most recent release “Made Up Mind,” called “Do I Look Worried.” The band continued onto “Idle Wind” and “Rollin’ and Tumblin,’” which feature Trucks’ signature slide guitar riffs. With a more subdued stage presence, Trucks appeared focused on wowing the crowd with his transcendent guitar sounds. This was most evident in his solo before beginning “Midnight in Harlem” where he took a traditional blues influence in combination with his more southern slide guitar to really inspire awe.

Marymoor was filled with fans rocking along and dancing throughout the evening. Tedeschi Trucks Band was captivating to watch and created a truly unforgettable concert experience.
