Redmond’s Intergenrerational Committee’s vegetable garden project is still growing strong.

This week, teens from the Old Fire House Teen Center and seniors from the Redmond Senior Center (RSC) transplanted vegetables from the RSC’s greenhouse to a raised bed just outside the building.

The produce — which includes sweet snap peas, onions, radishes, lettuce, beets, spinach and carrots — will be donated to Hopelink’s Redmond Food Bank downtown.

“That’s an amazing idea,” said Redmond High School senior Alvin Loong about where the vegetables will go when harvested. “It’s really awesome.”

RSC volunteer Cynthia Ashley said they plan to harvest the produce throughout the spring, summer and fall so Hopelink will receive several donations in the next few months.
