Patsy Bonincontri only got a brief taste of service as a Bellevue City Council member, but she’s gunning for more.
Bonincontri filed paper work this week with the state Public Disclosure Commission officially entering her into the race for the Sixth District seat on King County Council, currently occupied by Bellevue’s Jane Hague. Hague was originally elected in 1993, and she is seeking her sixth term in office. The Sixth District includes parts of Redmond.

The state House passed a pair of bills Saturday that would authorize tolling on major Eastside highways.

House Bill 1382 narrowly passed by a 52-46 margin. The bill authorizes high-occupancy toll (HOT) lanes in which single drivers can pay to use carpool lanes, as with the system on State Route 167.

King County residents will see a drop of nearly 10 percent in criminal defense departments (courts, police, etc.) unless they approve a .2 percent sales tax increase in November.
The proposal is the centerpiece of County Executive Dow Constantine’s budget, which seeks to make up a shortfall of more than $60 million through department efficiency improvements and payroll savings.
Constantine outlined his proposed budget to an editorial board of Reporter Newspapers editors Tuesday.
