Repair astronauts to visit Redmond aerospace site

The Electronics Group of Crane Aerospace & Electronics, a segment of Crane Co., will host a visit for the seven STS-125 Hubble repair astronauts on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009 at its Redmond site.

The team will include retired U.S. Navy Capt. Gregory C. Johnson, a Seattle native and pilot of the Shuttle Atlantis. The Atlantis team will spend the day at the Redmond site visiting the plant where key products used to repair Hubble were manufactured. The Electronics Group Power Solutions created the Interpoint brand SMRT Series of DC/DC Converters that provides power to the telescope.

The converters are designed to provide exceptional performance by offering up to 35 watts of power in a radiation tolerant environment. The converters are ideal for use in programs requiring high reliability, light weight, small size, and high levels of radiation hardening assurance. Since 1990, Crane products have been providing power distribution for important space programs.
