On Oct. 3, mission-critical communications systems provider, Zetron, held its first annual “Shoot for the Stars” golf tournament at the Bear Creek Country Club in Woodinville.
Proceeds of more than $10,000 went to the Behind the Badge Foundation, an organization that honors police officers in Washington who have died or have been seriously injured in the line of duty. The foundation also serves a resource for surviving officers and families.
More than 100 golfers participated, including first responders and other representatives from law enforcement, public safety and government agencies throughout the state. More than 20 local organizations and Zetron national resellers sponsored the event, due in part because of the foundation it supported. Both Zetron and Ellen O’Hara, Zetron chief executive officer and president, matched the proceeds amount donated through sponsorships, bringing the total contribution to more than $10,000.
“We wanted to create an event that would allow us to give back to the men and women that protect us daily,” said Zetron Vice President and General Manager of Sales, Wayne Foret. “We interviewed several public safety agencies to find the right foundation and heard repeatedly that Behind the Badge would be the best choice.”
Zetron designs and manufactures 911 call-taking, radio dispatch, and fire station alerting systems used by public safety agencies. Its goal is to ensure these systems are easy to use, reliable and have the functionality they need to respond to emergencies quickly.
The golf tournament was a way to bring together other organizations within the public safety industry to support a good cause.
