Why? Climate change IS caused by CO2 emissions and IS already affecting them: Smoke at Washington State University gave my son bronchitis; his buddy’s dorm at Texas A&M evacuated from flooding; friends in Iowa experienced massive downpours stripping topsoil from farmland, sending contaminated sediments into rivers. The in-laws’ town burned in California. Increasingly intense storms like Florence, Michael, Olivia and Sergio are destroying lives in the South, Hawaii and the Southwest. There are also increasing costs to the destruction of our natural resources, especially our water resources, fauna and forests.

Climate change is happening everywhere, worldwide, and our children’s health and lives are already being affected. We have very little time to prevent the ever-worsening affects and exorbitant costs of global tragedy. I-1631 is a step in the right direction.
