Nara is good eats | Letter

I was saddened to read about Nara Japanese Restaurant’s uncertain future in the Redmond Square shopping center. Nara opened around 1989 and has been a regular part of our Friday date night. As they would say in the TV series “Cheers,” everyone knows your name at Nara.

Some years ago, my wife and I were vacationing at Kauai. We substituted our regular California Rolls on our Friday date night at Sushi Bushido located in old town Kapaa.

When we got back to Redmond, we returned to Nara for another date night. We told Jessica Chen (Nara co-owner with her mom, Angie) about our “substitute” sushi. She looked up the menu online, and custom made a Kamikaze Roll for our date night.

So if you like sushi, I encourage Redmondites to visit Nara before the building is demolished. Take it from me, Nara is good eats.
