Stop ogling and start listening

In a recent Letter to the Editor in the Redmond Reporter, King County Executive candidate Susan Hutchison was accused of being a pretty face with no special aptitude. I can see that this writer never looked past her “pretty face.”

In fact she is exceptionally qualified, having been executive director of the Charles Simonyi Fund for Arts and Sciences, supporting organizations such as the Seattle Symphony, the Seattle Public Library, and the Seattle Art Museum in addition to her previous job as an award-winning news anchor and her active involvement in a number of charities and civic organizations.

This writer instead shows support for Dow Constantine, a candidate who has held a position in the county while it’s become less effective, more corrupt and fiscally irresponsible with our tax dollars.

I suggest he listen to what Ms. Hutchison has to say, instead disregarding her competency because she is attractive. I thought we have gone beyond this type of stereotyping and male chauvinism in this new era of democrat majority.
