25 LWSD students named National Merit Finalists, qualify for scholarships

Twenty-five Lake Washington School District (LWSD) students have been selected as finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Competition.

As finalists, these students are now qualified to receive National Merit Scholarships, including $2,500 awards, corporate-sponsored scholarships or college-sponsored scholarships. About 15,000 students nationally have been named finalists in this competition.

Students qualified for these awards by completing the 2015 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

The following students have advanced to finalist status in the National Merit Scholarship Program:

Redmond High School

Sophia Chang, Falak Daud, Shloak Jain, Siri Mellem, Jaehee Park, Martin Randal, Marium Raza, Irika Sinha, Dana Spillinger, Pearl Thijssen and Oliver Zhou.

Tesla STEM High School

Kyran Adams, Stephen Fitch, Aditya Kumar, Rishi Ramesh, Abhinav Singh, Varsha Veeramachaneni and Benjamin Zabback.

Eastlake High School

Samantha Moynihan

International Community School

Kartik Iyer, Alicia Kacharia and Irene Thomas.

Lake Washington High School

Maya Crandall-Malcolm, Louis Norred and Hunter Trewin.
